Tab It!
Funded Sep 27, 2023Thanks so much for helping my classroom out with tape tabs for our reading/poetry folders. We use these every day and the old tabs were falling off, so my students were struggling to find their place in the folders. We are adding new poetry each week so these folders are getting quite full.
They were so happy to get the new tabs and now are quickly finding the correct places in their folders. It has saved us time because I am not having to help them find their places.
Thanks for considering my helping my classroom, students, and school. You are the greatest.”

Funded Jun 8, 2023Thanks for helping out our classroom. We love our new horseshoe table. It fits the children perfectly and the table isn't so big that it takes up a lot of room in our classroom.
I can fit four to five children around it while doing a small group. I like it because I can reach each child as I am working with them. In the past, they would come to my desk and it would be too tall for them to sit at. I also use the table when I work one on one with a child during nap time.
The children like to come and work with me. I can create more connections with them and as we work together.
Thanks again. We love our donors. We couldn't do it without your generous donations.”

Funded Nov 21, 2022I am loving all the strategies and approaches that I have gained thus far in reading parts of these eight wonderful researched based resource books about how to teach my students how to read. This will be my 26 year of teaching but I feel that I can never stop learning. Every since I completed Volume One of LETRS I knew that I needed to learn more about how we learn to read.
These books are great companions to my LETRS training. I am working on Volume Two this year and almost have finished the last unit. One of my favorite books that I have been reading is Brain Words: How the Science of Reading Informs Teaching by J. Richard Gentry and Gene P. Ouellette. One thought that I gained from it is that there isn't one teaching approach or reading program produced yet that accomodates or is aligned with how we learn to read and our reading brain. So we have to do our part to make sure we give our students what they need.
I just know that I wish I would have learned all that I have learned so far in college. We weren't taught how to teach reading. Thankfully, I think that Missouri is trying to get into all of the teaching programs and ensure that our preservice teachers have the training they need to teach their students to read.”

Funded Nov 29, 2022My students are loving the marble run game. It has been a great hit in our classroom. The like to build what they can during center time and then save it for the next day. We try to keep it safe but sometimes it breaks but no worries they can get it back together.
Some like to build them big while others have build smaller ones and then had a race to see which marble will come out first. It is great to watch them work together to make the diferent pathways and figure out what will work to make their marbles win the race.
The extra set of Playstix® have also been a great asset to our classroom. We never seemed to have enough so more that one person could build somethng. They love making thier own creations or trying to follow the examples in the book that comes with it.
Thanks for helping out my classroom and kids. We will be able to use these for years to come.”

Funded Oct 5, 2022I am loving the Teaching Writing: Structure and Style®, Second Edition DVD Video Seminar. So far, I have been able to watch Unit 1 - Note Making and Outlines, Unit 2 - Writing from Notes. and the demonstation lesson for grades K-2. The seminar workbook has been benefical to guide me through each of these sessions. It has given me the courage and practice to start teaching making an outline and writing from our notes. I can't wait to finish it all.
The Primary Writing Lesson Plans for Kindergarten has given me the materials so I could do the outline and writing. The lesson plans came with primary posters that have nursery rhymes and source text that go together. We have read Old MacDonald and a source text about Pigs, Little Boy Blue and a source text about Dairy Cows, and several other nursery rhymes.
My kindergarteners have really impressed me in what they can remember from our source text. In each new writing they have have gotten better at taking out the 3 words from each sentence to make an outline. The next day, they were able to come up with a new sentences based from their outline.
This program is helping be a better teacher of writing so each of my students can become a successful writer.”

Funded Oct 26, 2022We all were very excited to see this box come with our LockerMate Stac-A-Shelf Locker Shelves and Lucid Audio HearMuffs.
Many of the children were without a shelf in their locker so everything would fall out when they pulled out one item from their locker. Sadly, I didn't order enough so a few are without a locker shelf. They keep on asking when they will get theirs. I love that most everyone has one and it is keeping our towels, pillows, and coats neatly organized in our cubbies.
The HearMuffs were also a hit. The little boy who didn't have a pair like all the rest was excited that his now matched everyone elses. My students use these muffs when we are writing in our journals. It can get noisy in the classroom when everyone is souding out their words they are writing.
Thanks again. Our classrooms would not be the same without all of our donors.”

Funded Aug 10, 2022My students were so excited to see our new soft seats, alphabet magnets, and double-sided magnetic write wipe boards. At the beginning of the year we did not have enough for all of my students and now we do.
The double sided magetic write wipe boards and alphabet letters have been very helpful during small groups when we are making new words and writing them.
The soft seats have been especially used during our nap time. The children who didn't have one were very glad to receive theirs.
Thanks again for investing in our classroom. We appreciate all of our donors.”

A "Little Spot" Will Do It!
Funded Jul 16, 2022My students are loving these books. They love the little plush toys that go with each emotions. We haven't read them all but they are wanting to get into them.
We are started with the "A Little SPOT of Kindness" book because we have been reading other kindness books. The children are now spotting other children being kind and they are doing kind things.
One little girl during center time has been making kindness pictures and handing them out to all her friends. She even made one for me. She has been doing this for several days now.
I am loving that my students are spoting kindness in others. I can't wait to read all of the books with my students.
Thanks so much for helping us out.”

Decoding Is Our Goal-Part 5
Funded Jul 16, 2022It was back this summer that these decodable books came to my classroom but my summer school pre-kindergarteners weren't ready for these books yet. But now they are!!! .
My students are begining to read. I love my students expressions when they discover that they are reading not being read to. We started reading in groups last week. These decodable books are just what my students need to become successful at reading.
One little girl was so anxious for it to be her turn to read with me. She keep asking until I had her come read with me at my desk.
Thanks again, my students and classroom couldn't make it without all of you donors.”

Funded May 6, 2022My students have been so fortunate for your help in getting our classroom the Level C – Moving-A-Long from Half-Pint Kids. With these 10 new books sets we should have enough for each of my students this year to have their own to read here at school and also to take home.
These books finish the series of decoable books that follow a systematic, sequential and cumulative approach to teaching reading. New phonics skills are gradually introduced in each new book. My student love the new characters and their funny adventures.
They love (and so do I) that they can read and don't have to ask what each word is on the page. WE LOVE OUR DECODABLE BOOKS!!
Thanks again.”
