Going into our fourth unit of the year we will be focusing on linear equations. From past experience, I know that linear equations can seem tedious and are at times hard to conceptualize. When it comes to graphing students would rather use graphing utilities rather than graph by hand, but having a strong ability for graphing points and lines will greatly benefit these students in future classes. This project will let my student's creativity shine through, while allowing them to practice writing and graphing linear equations. Student will be given a series of situations they must write and graph equations of lines for. For example, "A line slope intercept form with a slope of 2/3." Students will create different lines for the same prompt making their graph as unique as them. Once they have written all their equations and graphed all their lines on the coordinate plane they will get the chance to turn their math into a work of art. Student will put their graphs inside the sheet protector and trace their lines using fabric paint. One the paint drys, they will colors the different sections using brightly colored markers, creating a stained glass look. Student work will be showcased in the large windows in the front of the classroom for all the school to see.
