I am requesting these books for our middle school library to provide reading material, on grade level to our native Spanish speaking students. We are an urban school district that is located to the immediate NE of Atlanta. Our students are from all around the globe including many students who are from Spanish speaking countries, who happen to be refugees. Making the transition to a new country, a new home and a new school is often a struggle for our refugee students that are native Spanish speaking students and I want to to welcome them into our school community with a quality selection of young adult literature in their native language. While it is important for these students to learn English to navigate in this country, I don't want these students to lose their native language. It is important for all of us to keep our cultural traditions, including our native language.
