  • Scholastic News and Science Spin Magazines for Third Grade Readers

    Funded Oct 14, 2019

I really love having the Scholastic News delivered to my classroom. The students take home the magazine and enjoy reading the high interest science and social studies articles. They come back to school sharing what they've learned from reading the articles. This reading practice has increased their reading skills and they are becoming lifelong readers. The activities are standards-based and they love the videos and games they play after reading the magazine. Thanks again, for allowing my students to read such educational, high interest, science and social studies content!”

  • A Cozy Library for Third Grade Readers

    Funded Oct 14, 2019

My library is such a cozy, inviting place for my students to read and meet in. The students are able to read more because they are so comfortable and I owe this to you. The kids are were so excited when they saw the couch and chair. We have a schedule and all students are able to read and sit on them once a week. They are located in the class library and are used to for independent reading and for whole class lessons and our morning meeting. It builds community and supports class relationships. I am honored to have furniture in my classroom and I am so thankful.”

  • Character Series Books for Third Grade Readers

    Funded Oct 14, 2019

It is so important for students to practice reading in order to improve their reading. Having a plethora of high-interest books in the classroom for students to choose from and read is my goal as a teacher. I really appreciate the funding of this project in order for my third graders to have access to these books. The students read one and continue through the series. They are eager to choose more books and to take them home. My students' reading levels have increased greatly and I know this is due to their increased reading practice. Thank you again for allowing me to have these books that I will treasure for my future third grade classes.”

  • New School Year Supplies for Third Grade

    Funded Oct 14, 2019

Throughout this school year, the supplies you funded for my third grade classroom have been used copiously. The students use the pencils and pens for all subject areas and even take them home to use for their homework. The chart paper has been used for anchor charts for reading, writing and math strategies. The copy paper is used for worksheets, homework sheets and writing responses. I can't thank you enough for making sure my students have these essential supplies for the school year. The globe is a very popular reference tool. The students love going to the globe to look up places we talk about in social studies, and in our read alouds.”

  • Math Toolboxes for Third Grade

    Funded Dec 4, 2019

As soon as I opened the box, the students swarmed me and asked what the boxes were for. They wanted to use the tools immediately for math. The students are making arrays to solve multiplication equations and multiplication word problems. They are counting on the number line and using the tiles to count on and count back for addition and subtraction problems. The students are eager to do math now and are using their own math manipulation boxes to help them. This has made a tremendous impact on their math skills and engagement. We are going to be studying fractions soon and I know the fraction tiles will be very helpful. I can't thank you enough for allowing each student in my class have their own math tool box.”

  • Series Books to Third Grade Readers

    Funded Oct 14, 2019

It is my goal to not only teach children to read but to instill a love of reading. You have helped me with this goal. The series books that you added to my class library has made my students excited about reading and read more. Their book baggies are filled with these new books and they reading through all the series! They love the A to Z Mystery series, Cam Jansen and Nate the Great series and it came just in time for our reading mystery unit! I even read one for our read aloud (The Absent Author) and they were motivated to read other books in the series. During independent reading time, we read for 30 minutes and they are much more engaged in reading and their reading levels are moving up. Thank you for supplying my class library with these amazing books!”

  • Classroom Supplies Needed for Fourth Grade

    Funded Jan 8, 2019

I am deeply grateful for your donations that allowed my students to have classwork notebooks, pencils, white boards with dry erase markers. Students were able to write their answers to math questions, solve math computations and even illustrate book scenes. The pencils were always plentiful and I was able to supply the students with pencils at home. The chart paper allowed me hang anchor charts instructing students on reading, writing and math strategies. Students use these anchor charts as reference tools that hang around the room. Again, thank you for thinking of my students and giving them the supplies to succeed in school!”
