5th grade is an important year to students to cement the skills they have previously learned and to further their thinking. Reading is an important part of a student's future. Students taking interest in novels, or reading in general, seems to be lacking in today's society. As a teacher I want to regain the interest in reading through novels to sharpen their skills and challenge their thinking. With a class set of the novel Things Not Seen, I will be able to have my class work collaboratively, independently, and in a group setting. They will be able to provide text evidence, analyze characters, and problem-solve. Every student will be involved with the lessons as we work through the novel study.

About my class
