As a way to maximize their overall educational experience and to increase student engagement, I'd like to give my students the privilege of alternating between seating based on how they learn best. Whether it be by increasing their kinesthetic movements by wobbling in their seats, stimulating their senses by grabbing a balance disk to place on their chair, or to work on the low tables by placing it on the floor. Another reason why I am asking for this array of items is because I want to give students a change to discover the seating arrangement that will allow them to learn their best. Currently in my classroom I have one "Balance Ball", and the kids just become super excited when it's their turn to use it. When they are on it, they're focused and attentive because they can bounce up and down the ball without disturbing anybody. The Wobble Chairs are popular among other fellow teachers that have them; I have tried them myself and they're a real core body worker. I also look forward to using flexible seating to reduce behavioral issues by giving them choice, letting them decide where they will sit to focus and learn their best. My goal is for them to discover which option of flexible seating fits their needs, so I'd like to have a variety for them to try out. I am looking to reduce time off task to decrease or hopefully eliminate some of their learning gaps.
