Great Beginnings
Funded Sep 11, 2023Our class is most greatful for your support and contributions to our class. We were able to begin our school year with the much needed materials for a great start. It is often very difficult for parents to get supplies especially when you have more than one child in school. With these basic materials pencils, crayons, glue, and composition notebooks. we had a good start.
The composition books are used for word work, which is a lot of cut and paste for phonics and phonemic awareness. In Kindergarten we use glue and crayons everyday. The primary pencils are easy for small hands to grip and manipulate.
Thank you from my class for your continued support.”

Funded Jun 1, 2022My students are enjoying the classroom activity folder games. We use them during our differentiated instructional time. When I introduced them for the first time the excitement was overwhelming.
We have begun to use the sight word journals for morning routines. This activity enables student to practice their basic sight word vocabulary in a fun way. It is repetitive, but the the student don't realize it. They are having fun completing the different ways to find the word.Any time students can use a hands on approach to learning it becomes more concrete.”

Manipulating Math!
Funded Dec 14, 2020Thank you for your donation to Manipulating Math. My students were thrilled when they received the manipulatives. Math is a hands on activity for young learners and to be able to give them the necessary materials to be successful is wonderful. When we used the hand held decomposing board the students are able to manipulate and see how to add and subtract numbers to better understand Part/Part/Whole. As you see they had a lot of fun sharing this activity. My class at the time was online/virtual. In addition to the boards we have ten frames and counters that allow the students to understand number concepts and cardinality. Again I am so grateful for your contribution to my class and making this a great project.”

Funded Oct 4, 2019The use of the HP Chromebooks is allowing my students to have a more integrated and interactive experience with learning. Most come from low income families and don't have computers at home. In DI groups they have immediate feedback to the specific skills we are learning. In using Imagine Learning I can assign reinforcement activities and see immediate results.
What is new and exciting for the students is they have laptops to work on during small group instruction instead of just paper and pencil. They love the idea they can control how much they are able to work on. The activities are interactive and they control their answers and can change them with a tap.
My class consist of students who have limited English proficiency. They like the technology because they don't have to worry about being afraid to make mistakes. They can tap a button an erase, them try again.”

Mrs. Thomas
