  • Reading is Fundamental in Math and SEL

    Thank you for your donation. My students loved making connections between math and the real world. When we would finish with a unit, I would always be able to find an article that helped to support the work we were learning. Many students in our school struggle with math and literacy. Being able to tie in literacy to our math lesson was a game changer, especially real life application to keep them motivated. We saw an increase in proficiency in our state math scores this year. We couldn't have done it without your help!”

  • Starting Off on the Right Foot

    Thank you so much for our supplies that you donated to our class last year. Before the quarantine took place, we were able to use the supplies to create visuals of our math problem solving skills.

    When we received the supply shipments, my students, along with myself, were so excited!!! You were the first Donors Choose donation I ever received and it was amazing to see how kind someone could be to my students. They took turns opening the boxes and showing the supplies off to the class. We were all so grateful!

    Due to the quarantine, we had some left over supplies so we will put those to good use this year. Thank you again for our supplies. We really appreciate it!”

Scholastic Math magazine incorporates real world math problems in every subscription. In each article, students will have current, interesting topics while learning standard based math and receiving practice questions. I have tried to incorporate this subscription into my lessons in the past, however, I haven't been able to get my entire class to purchase the magazine. Your donation will provide Access For All Students in my math class by giving each student their own subscription. This will be used to enhance the curriculum we use. These magazines will capture the attention of the struggling student while teaching them math. They will also help their reading skills to advance, the more you read, the more you know.
