  • Math on the Web

    Funded Aug 26, 2020

Thank you for the desk and document projector which helped me teach from home. The document projector allowed my student the opportunity to see the examples I was demonstrating as if we were in the classroom. I also used the projector to capture pictures of the math notes to upload for student to review after the lesson or if they missed class.

The colored pencils helped to make the lesson more engaging and colorful. I was able to use color to enhance the examples I demonstrated for the students. Also the ink was used to make copies of their workbook pages and handouts that were posted online for students to learn from. The use of the supplies helped me teach from home and have my student be able to access the content.

Your donations made this challenging time less cumbersome. Thank you again for your donations and generosity.”

  • See the Math Safely

    Funded Aug 26, 2020

The students were able to see lesson clearer by using the document projector. I used it daily and was able to zoom in and take pictures of the lessons to post for absent students. The desk and stand also helped make the lessons more accessible for student to see. During Covid it was difficult to engage the students, but with the use of the tools I was able to reach many of my student.

The printer ink and supplies of colored pens helped me provide printed copies of the lessons. The pens enhanced the lessons by accenting the examples with color to make the lesson more engaging. The supplies assisted me as the instructor provide engaging examples for the mathematics being taught.

Thank you for your generous donation to make sure the students were able to access them mathematics lessons taught.”

  • Rejuvenate, Enjoy, and Learn Mathematics

    Funded Sep 1, 2019

The students are using the erasers and pencils for a pattern poster project. The students had to draw an enlarged pattern and this took several tries to make sure the size and pattern dimensions were correct. So the use of a large eraser was helpful so they did not use up their own pencil eraser. Some students needed pencils for the project so I was able to give them one of the pencils supplied in this project.

The students were very happy to know that there were erasers, pencils, and cleaning supplies to clean the desk when they dirty. Students ask for the wipes to clean their areas and this helps keep the room sanitized. The use of the diffuser has added a nice spell to the classroom. Students volunteer to put the scent into the diffuser. One of the most used supplies has been the kleenex many students have been sick this fall and not once did I have to say I was out of kleenex. This was a nice feeling to supply the students with this small luxury item.

The classroom classroom posters and tapestry has helped add to the appearance and encouraging learning environment. Our next goal is to create a classroom that is using inquiry and building ideas to convey the mathematics concepts learned. I know with the calculators, supplies and healthy students this will be able to be accomplished. Thank you again for your donations and support in our learning experience.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Herndon

  • Calculate It, Get It Right!

    Funded Aug 9, 2018

The calculators you helped me purchase for my students has helped them with problem solving. Many times the students do not have the basic facts or the number sense to solve problems, but with the use of the calculators they are able to solve the problems. They have the confidence to start solving and to know that their calculations are correct. The students are more engaged with the use of the calculators. It is truly gratifying to see the students' confidence improve and to hear them talk about the math and argue different ways to solve a problem. As a teacher of mathematics this is the ultimate sound a math teacher wants to hear.

The technology is easy for the students to use and they are proud of the technology. They take pride in caring for the calculators and count them prior to leaving the room. They make sure they are placed in the holders and remind others to put them away. The calculators are solar so they are always able to be used by the students without any need to change the batteries.

Students are using the calculators when solving problems or to check their calculations on their homework. The students are starting to practice their basic facts using games to improve their number sense which helps when assessing if their answer is reasonable. The students of all backgrounds are using the calculators and see that their skills are improving. This improvement has also helped their confidence to start and solve challenging problems. Thanks you for your generous donations that are serving my students in their learning process.”

The 10-Sided Fraction Dice, Fractions-Decimals-Percents Bingo, Quizmo Fractions Decimals, and Decimal Dice games will help bring a new way to address integers, fractions, and percents that are taught in my math classes. Students will use the TI-30X IIS calculators for problem solving activities. They'll be able to see success and build their desire to learn mathematics and see the magic of getting the correct or possible solution. Students are more motivated and engaged in the learning if they enjoy the activity when they are participating in game or manipulative lessons that build the conceptual concepts taught in 7th and 8th grade. With these manipulatives, it will be easier to create and prepare engaging activities for the students to practice the rules and concepts in mathematics. The manipulatives like the dice allow the students to roll for equations when solving for x, practicing integer rules, rational expressions or basic facts. Using manipulatives and games is more motivational than traditional worksheets or a book. The use of the whiteboards is a way to see different students approaches, students struggles, or misconceptions quicker while ensuring all students are participating in the learning. Materials can be stored in the classroom storage caddies. Also, the room is full of hot bodies. Because it is important to ensure that the environment is inviting I have asked for the Aromatherapy Essential Oil Diffuser Humidifier and oils. My hope is to make the instruction enjoyable so students will want to learn math. Research shows that students learn basic facts better through repetition and games. However, it is difficult to put games in the content without manipulatives that make the games possible. With larger class sizes more supplies and calculators are needed. By funding this project you will put the tools in the hands of the students to ensure that they can be successful and increase their motivation to learn the content.
