Mathematics Centered Around Technology!
Funded Jan 26, 2018Thank you so much for your generous support and donation to Classroom A215. The students were extremely excited to receive 4 Chromebooks for use during class!!! The laptops have allowed us to work in stations at students' different ability levels in math, as well as complete projects related to our curriculum. So far, the students have explored using GoogleDrive and its many options: GoogleForms, GoogleSheets, GoogleSlides, and GoogleDocs. These tools will be useful to them as they take on high school next year, and beyond.
Having access to technology readily in the classroom has also allowed the students to utilize our classroom subscription of "Scholastic Math" online. Reading is such an important skill cross-curricula, and access to these real-world articles has helped to strengthen students' abilities when faced with word problems.
Along with "Scholastic Math" they have also been able to log-on to the districts "iReady" program. Once logged in students participate in adaptive diagnostics that pinpoint their skill-level. They interact with lessons prescribed to them and utilize tools they will see when completing the math MCAS online in May. This has helped them to become more comfortable with the tools they will see when high-stakes testing, and to build confidence in themselves.
I can not say thank you enough for helping the students get their hands on technology and embrace math!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Dunbar
