This year I am focusing on working with my students on developing "mindfulness". Emerging research indicates that mindfulness can help children improve their abilities to pay attention, to calm down when upset, and to make better decisions. These skills will greatly improve emotional regulation and cognitive focus. My students would greatly benefit from the ability to regulate their emotions and improve their ability to stay focused; which is why I'm requesting The Mind Up Curriculum for multiple grades and a variety of Mindful books. These resources will help teach the students to develop awareness of both their inner and outer experiences. These are skills that will help them be more successful both academically and in the social interactions with others.
