Helping ELLs Access Technology for Learning
Funded Apr 7, 2022Thank you again for your generosity and kindness! These tablets are a wonderful tool for my students who are second language learners to research different topics online when they are working on nonfiction writing. My students are interested in studying different topics in the real world so these tablets are the perfect tools to help them achieve that goal! They can also use the tablets to create videos where they can present the information they learned to their peers. Some of my students who just moved to this country are most excited to use the tablet as it gives them access to google translate which will help them communicate in their new language, English.”

Expressing Language Arts through Art
Funded Sep 21, 2021My students love using the materials we got. The model magic is very stress relieving for the students to work with, especially for my ELLs who have disabilities. They love to work with a material that is hands on. We have been using the model magic as a tool to show their understanding of new vocabulary words they have been learning from non fiction read alouds. Learning tier two vocabulary words and expanding their vocabulary knowledge is very important for ELLs as they learn more English. The model magic we got will be enough for us to use for the read alouds I have planned for the rest of the school year. Thank you so much for giving my students the chance to express
their vocabulary knowledge through art.”

Funded Nov 2, 2019Thank you so much for your kindness and help. The students are enjoying the time they get to use art to connect with the new English vocabulary words they are learning about. The students are always so excited to use clay to make picture that show off their vocabulary comprehension. They have to brainstorm different ideas they can think of to use clay to make a picture of one of the new vocabulary words they are learning about from a variety of read alouds. Thank you for letting them show off their creativity and giving them a chance to learn new English vocabulary words along the way.”

Technology For ELLs - Home Language Support And Knowlege Source!
Funded Dec 25, 2018Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Having the tablet has made great impact in my ENL classroom. The newcomer ENL students are using the tablet to check up the meaning of words on google translate and they also get to use google images to look for pictures that helps them understand the meaning of new English vocabulary words. The newcomer ENL students are also using the Raz Kids app on the tablet to listen to English fiction and non-fiction books that are on their independent reading level. They also need to answer comprehension questions in the app to make sure they understand what they are reading. For the higher leveled ENL students across grade levels, they are using the tablet to research and collect facts for their research projects that focuses on different content areas. In grade 2, the students are using the tablet to research about the true story of Ivan the Shopping Mall Gorilla. In grade 5, the students are using the tablet to research about Kate Warne, the first woman detective in America. They are also using the dictionary app to check the spelling in their writing. This one tablet has been used for many different things that has helped the ENL students in my classroom make a lot of stride along their path to learning English. Thank you again for your kind and caring hearts.”
