For my classroom, I am hoping to receive an Adjustable Literature Organizer. Sixth grade is a year of transition and learning how to be better organized. Regarding organization, each of my students is assigned a unique number that assists me (and them) in tracking attendance, grades, assigning classroom jobs, and distributing Chromebooks. The addition of this organizational mailbox to my classroom with each slot marked with a student's unique number will come in extremely handy for distributing graded papers back to students and other forms of communication. Another issue I see in my classroom is the students' addiction to technology. While I am an advocate of technology and use it daily "for good" in my classroom, I believe it can also be a detriment if not used wisely. As a reward to finishing assignments early/on time, my students are allowed "free time" on Chromebooks. Unfortunately, more often than not, the students use this technology to watch YouTube videos or play "mindless" games. I would prefer my students use their free time in my classroom to play more thought-provoking games that also encourage more interaction with one another. I'm requesting a variety of game including UNO, Yahtzee, a Chess/Checkers/Backgammon set, playing cards, Five Crowns card game, Scrabble, and Battleship.
