This year, we are focusing on a balanced literacy approach. It is compromised of guided reading, interactive reading, and shared reading. Shared reading is completed for approximately 20 minutes per day, where my students sit in front of a projected text and complete a series of read alouds and collaborative group comprehension activities. My students need carpet squares to optimize fluency and comprehension during this important teaching time. As of right now, they get do not like to sit on the cold floor, tiled flooring. With winter on the horizon, I want to make this balanced literacy approach the best it can possibly be!
