Birds of a Feather Program Together
Funded Feb 17, 2025Wow! I am in awe of your kindness and generosity. When I first posted this project, with such a large funding goal, I was unsure if it would even come close to being funded. Imagine my amazement this morning to log in and find it fully funded!
My students and I cannot begin to thank you enough. Ever since they heard we were trying for a new flock of robots, they have been anxiously awaiting updates. I can't wait to share the new Finches with them when they arrive. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU SO MUCH!”

3D Printing In The Palm Of Your Hand
Funded Nov 30, 2023Thank you so much for your kind and generous contributions toward this project. I wish you could have seen the gleefully excited looks on my students' faces when they realized we had a full set of 3D pens for the class. I have never seen kids so excited to come to class each day!
We used these 3D pens as an introduction to our 3D design unit and the students had a blast learning how to design both 2D and 3D creations with them. We learned about the challenges and joys of digital fabrication, and my students made a TON of awesome things - from rings and custom sunglasses, to gifts for family members, to incredible abstract works of art. Our classroom stuffed spider, Gerald, even received a custom pair of glasses and a wig made with the pens!
The end of the quarter is approaching, and we have moved from 3D pens to designing items for our 3D printers, but the students still ask for chances to use them again. We are planning one last design day with the pens before the quarter ends and I get to introduce them to a new group of students! Thank you again for making this possible for us!”

Ms. Martin

Funded Nov 29, 2022Your generous donations have made our digital designs become a reality! With our new 3D printers, we are able to print multiple student designs at a time, making it easier for them to both see the results of their work, and to create multiple iterations as they are working on a project. They are so excited to see and hold the creations that were once solely digital.
We have been hard at work creating a variety of 3D printed projects with our new printers. We have learned how to import SVG files and convert them to 3D in order to make custom cookie cutters. Students have designed their own bubble wands featuring dinosaurs, flowers, hearts, and more. We are currently working on creating custom bobblehead dolls, which is our most popular project so far.
I love seeing the impact the 3D printers have had on all of our students, even those who are not currently in Tech class. I have had students design items for use in other classroom projects - including one student who was designing a game board for a math class project and asked if she could use the 3D printers to make custom game pieces for the project. Coming up, we're going to work on a project using the printers and CAD software to design assistive devices for people with disabilities. I can't wait to see what my students create. Thank you again for all of your support!”

Funded Aug 22, 2018Thank you so much for helping fund this project. Our students have been so excited to have the new Cricut tools in our classroom. We have been using them for a variety of projects. Our first use was when we moved into a new building and needed to put our own SLAMS stamp on it. We used the Cricuts to design and cut our school logo to decorate our shared spaces. In another project, students who were piloting an independent project unit used the Cricuts to design and make custom stickers as part of their project.
Our students were very excited when the Cricuts arrived. There was a lot of curiosity and questions around them. Students had a ton of ideas of things they wanted to do with the Cricuts, and were ready to dive in and start working.
While we had a bit of a hiatus due to Covid requiring remote learning for several years, we are now back in the classroom and ready to create again. This year's 8th graders are back working on independent projects with a goal of creating items they can sell at a school store. I currently have two student groups planning their Cricut projects - they want to design and sell custom t-shirts and iPhone cases using the Cricut and our heat press. I can't wait to see what they create, and it would not be possible without the support you gave us. THANK YOU!”

Funded May 23, 2018Thank you so much for your kind and generous donations. My students will be so excited to try out the new video cameras. They have been asking about them daily. Your donations will make it possible for my kids to go even further with their film making projects. Thanks again!”

Funded Oct 20, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donation! My students are extremely excited to start working with our new Micro:bits. We debuted them in our Tech Stars mini course yesterday, and the kids immediately dove in and started programming. I have never seen them so intent on learning something new. The best part for me was watching our new 'expert' students teach other students what they had learned. They are already asking for more, and can't wait for next week's Tech Stars course to try them again. After seeing how excited this group of students was to use them, I can't wait to start introducing them to my 6th graders in class later this year. Thanks again for helping us fund this awesome tool.”

It's a 3-D Revolution!
Funded May 23, 2015Wow! I have never had a project funded so quickly. Thank you VERY much for your amazing generosity. I can't wait to let my students know that we'll be getting a 3-D scanner for the STEM lab. They have heard of them, and have been asking if we'd ever get one. This will make their day!
I am already planning ways to use it in the classroom for both the students and the teachers. This will be a fantastic addition to our STEM program and will allow my students to do so much more.
Thank you thank you thank you!!!!”

Rockin' Robotics With Ozobots
Funded Mar 19, 2015Thank you, thank you, thank you! These Ozobots have been a HUGE hit with my K-2 students. I introduced them just before Spring Break, and I have never seen students so excited before. They were sucking up every bit of information about them like sponges.
We discussed how computers and other technology are controlled by code, and we talked about how to write our color codes for the Ozobots. The kids were fascinated by the optical sensors, and they loved all the tricks you could code for the 'bots. Our principal came down to see the 'bots in action, and my students immediately bombarded her with all the information they had learned about the Ozobots. It was fantastic to watch 5 year olds explaining optical sensors and coding to adults!
My students are now hooked on robotics and coding. These little 'bots are a great introduction to the subject for both young and old. My fifth graders are now clamoring for a chance to try them out. They have been a great addition to the STEM Lab!
Thank you so much for your generosity!”

Help Us See The Hidden World Around Us!
Funded Jan 21, 2015Wow, these digital microscopes have been a huge hit! The students were very excited to use them, and they were amazed at how many details they could see with them. They are extremely engaged, and having a great time taking photos of what they find with the 'scopes.
We have been using them in 6th grade recently to learn about the differences between plant and animal cells. It's been great for the students to be able to see real life examples of what they are learning. What a huge difference from pictures in books.
The kids have been enjoying the microscopes so much that even when they had finished viewing their assigned slides, they went looking for more items to view under the microscope. These little gadgets have really inspired curiosity and inquiry in the classroom. Thank you so very much for your generosity in funding this project!”
