  • Beyond the Surface

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Where to begin with all the gratitude and happiness this project has brought to my students. It is so nice to see students being appreciative of something someone donated to our classroom. They feel personally responsible for taking care of and using it for a good purpose.

I have noticed an increased amount of organization, creativity, and outside the box thinking since we received our donation. Students take pride in their creations. They come in to school early and work away. They come in during lunch time to work on their projects. They even stay after school to have uninterrupted time to focus on what they are creating.

I have noticed that our lower performing students have taken a huge liking to doing their work now if it means that they can do some of it on a computer. Even a few of the parents will email me telling me how excited their son/daughter is about the new addition to our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Salinas

  • Digital Financial Literacy

    Funded Oct 18, 2017

The laptops and printer that you funded for our class has been such a game changer. My students are able to come to class before school and research, create, and print projects and the fact that they know it was purchased with them in mind has really made them appreciative.

They often talk about how they one day want to be in a position where they can fund projects for other classrooms like it was done for them. They take care of the laptops and printer and hold each other accountable for not eating around them or bringing liquids near them. We are so very thankful for your contribution to our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Salinas

A big part of the newer portion of the Mathematics curriculum includes Financial Literacy. This is a great addition because it exposes children to the workings of a checking account, the interest rates of a credit card and other monetary concepts of everyday adult life. I would like students to have access three Chromebooks as part of a research project where we monitor and track the stock market and calculate profits and losses based on the trends. We will then use the printer to print out charts and graphs based on our results and calculate needs based on the evidence.
