My students will greatly benefit from hearing books read aloud. This will help with both their English and overall reading skills. They will be able to follow along with the text to build word and sound correspondence and will build fluency skills by hearing the books read aloud with proper intonation, speed, and pronunciation. Having a listening center will help my students be independent. I have a limited number of adults in my classroom during centers. This center will allow my students to gain reading skills without the need of an adult. Hearing a variety of books will help build their desire to learn to read.
