  • We Create to Give Back

    Funded Jan 9, 2024

Thank your for your generous donations. My students were ecstatic when they received a plethora of crochet materials. With your donations we were able to complete their project by creating winter essentials such as scarves and hats for the less fortunate.

The students' dedication and time with the yarn and hooks that were provided allowed us to create other projects as well. For example, in April we began to work together to crochet wallets and handbags which we donated to a women's shelter. After that production we made flowers as a gift for mothers on Mothers Day for teachers and students' parents.

With the new bought materials we will be able to keep creating different projects that will benefit more of the community. In addition, I'm happy to say that we will be having a beginners crochet workshop this Thursday during our STEAM night. The students running the workshop will become our student leaders next year and we're hoping that most of the attendees learn enough to join our club next year as well.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Iglesia

  • Copy Me Please!

    Funded Mar 8, 2010

Your donation of a copy machine will benefit the students this year and many more to come. Thanks to your generosity our students now have access to all the great reference resources our library has to offer. This will allow them to take the copied material home providing them with more time to really dive into the literacy, something that forty-five minutes in the library will not allow them to do. Your donation has added an extra step in our students' path to success.

Thanks for making a difference in our students' future! ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Iglesia

Our students come from two Title 1 schools that combined make up an extraordinary Educational Complex in the South Bronx. One of these schools is an expeditionary learning school. All students are preparing for college. Our students all come from proud families that work hard for low wages. Many of these students do not have the time to use the public library because of multiple obligations. They rely on the school's library to give them access to resources otherwise unavailable.
