Funded Aug 5, 2023Thank you again for your donation! Because of your donations I was able to purchase four Sphero Bolt codeable robots for my gifted class. The first projects we completed was a chariot race. Students were challenged to construct a chariot out of various materials, that would be pulled by the Sphero. Then we raced them! This activity was fully engaging because students had ownership in how to build their chariots and it was hands on. This project also took student through the engineering design process. Students had to brainstorm their design, construct it, then make changes while they tested their chariots.
I am currently trying to plan our next activity that incorporates coding the Sphero robots. I am planning on creating some sort of moon or Mars simulation where the Sphero is the rover and students have to code it to travel to different distances. For this activity I want the students to work in groups of 2-4. I believe it's important for students to work with their peers because it helps prepare them for the real world, when they may have to work with others in future careers.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Gryga
