My project will support our Social Studies and Science curriculum by providing students with a weekly subscription to Scholastic News. Not only will students have the opportunity to build nonfiction-reading skills, but also increase content-area knowledge and inspire a love of learning. Non-fiction reading is a college readiness skill that should be practiced daily. The articles in Scholastic News are relatable and high interest for each targeted age group and includes online features, such as interactive games and activities. The magazines also covers difficult issues and events and modify to kid-friendly articles that are easy for our students to comprehend.
