Studies show that 61% of America’s low-income children are growing up in homes without books (Reading Literacy in the United States: Findings from the IEA Reading Literacy Study, 1996.). This puts our students at a severe disadvantage. We want to change this! Additionally, our students love to read-- IF they love their books! That's why we have chosen our student's favorite titles such as, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and National Geographic Readers, to skyrocket their literacy. We are hoping that these interesting titles and shiny new books will get our students intrinsically motivated to read at home, in school, and wherever they go.
