I am so excited to tell you about a new adventure in my kindergarten classroom! After research, contemplation, and seeing the results first hand, I have decided to continue to incorporate Flexible Seating into my classroom. I have chosen some lap desks, ball seats, floor seats, and cushions to add to my collection. This allows for more children to have the opportunity of choice. Last year, was my first year to give my students choice and a variety of seating options (bean bag chairs, wiggle seats, cushions, rocking chair and tummy time). This opportunity was very different from what I had implemented in my classroom before, but the positive results and student engagement were terrific. This year, I want to encourage more choices for my students in my classroom. My students are full of energy, and they are definitely not one-size-fits-all. Therefore, they don’t learn in the same way. By giving my students choice, to pick the best way for them to learn they are more engaged and ready to learn. I teach in a beautiful school in Northern Minnesota. I have set out to find ways to get the supplies needed to make flexible seating happen in my classroom. I have been busy going to garage sales, repurposing materials to bring into my class, and now I need your help. I have selected some final items are necessary to continue my implementation and get ready for this year.
