Funded Oct 23, 2024Thank you so much for your generation donations to support my class. My students and I can't wait to begin working on creative writing projects from Essays, Blogs, Newsletters, Travel sites, and Animal Protection websites, via Word Press. Funded Aug 2, 2023The headphones are fantastic. The students really love the soft ear muffs on the headphones. The comfort level allows the students to work in comfort for longer periods of time. The sound is high quality through the ear pieces and the students enjoy using them. They were also reasonably priced for a high quality product.
Some students from the Central American countries have had limited education and have not had the same experience in using high quality products for technology. They really do value their computer use and time while listening to online stories and writing responses. Occasionally, if all students are on task I will allow them to listen to music while writing.
My heart is filled with gratitude for your generous donations. Thank you kindly for always supporting my class and the support that many educators receive.”

Funded Sep 23, 2021I sincerely want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. My students have benefited from the technology that has been donated to the colorful, pens, pencils and also journals. When students do not have a Chromebook, I'm able to lend them one. This past year we were fortunate to have a Verizon contract, so luckily for us we were one to one.
Technology has benefited my students in a great way by practicing assessments online. The most rewarding advantage is students can create many projects through Canvas or Google Docs. I love to see their creativity.”

Funded Dec 31, 2019The Comic books are wonderful addition as a motivational tool for my students. I was able to reward some of my high performing students with the comic books as gifts. These students love to draw and doodle, so they appreciated the comic drawing books. I kept a few in my classroom, so when students have some down time, they can check out to draw for their leisure.
When we received the comic drawing books, my students were very excited. As noted above, many of my students are very creative, love art, love to draw, so the books were a welcome reward. Although, I teach writing, I have always enjoyed comics, so seeing an easy process on how to draw comical characters was something I wanted to do also. Since, I'm not a very good artist nor can I draw, the books easy methods helped even the worst artist (Me), ha, ha!!
I plan to buy more books this year, so that I can reward my high performing students an as well, collect more for my classroom. I believe it's important to allow students to have downtime or something fun for students to do in the classroom. Now, more than ever, we need a greater amount of joy in our lives.”

Funded Oct 30, 2019My students are just now exploring the Kindle Fires and they love them. There are so many apps on these that I know they want to explore, but of course, my cautionary educator guard is up. I'm letting them explore with reading on the District Apps & I am allowing them to ask a few questions to Alexa. they are thrilled by this!! I can't believe they don't know about this cool device or even the Nook! My students will read books and do research projects exploring the world.
They absolutely love asking questions to Alexa! They can see all the different apps for games, books in audible, and of course the Instagram, Twitter & any other social media sites. I explained the cost & now they are going to ask if their parents can purchase them one. I told them to make good grades & maybe it's a possibility.”

Funded Feb 27, 2018I'm extending my sincere thanks to you all for the bilingual books, parallel books, and Spanish language books. Many of my students are newcomers to the United States and don't have the opportunity to have reading assignments or text in their own language. Although, our instruction is primarily in English, we do have some English as a Second Language program to support our ELL's and Newcomers. When we have silent sustained reading time, they can freely participate. They have books in their own language to read from. I can tailor some questions now to the book they're reading.
In my class reading is not just a chore the students do, it is a pleasure that all of us participate in. Although I am their teacher, I read as well and I will occasionally stop and tell the students about what I'm reading. Sometimes, I'll mention some questions with my reading that might include predictions, characterization, conflicts, and motivations. I will ask the students to do the same for their peers or the class.
Yes, actually all of them, but of course the newcomers. Since, my school is bilingual, and many of my students first language is Spanish, they too want to read them. I think this is important, as it is critical for our global world to be bilingual. Students who are now fully immersed in English can also have the luxury to continue to practice their first language.”

Funded Nov 1, 2017My goal is to show students the world through pictures, videos, music, poetry, food & culture. As we travel the world through CNN 10 and National Geography, the world comes to life! Now, we are ready to create our travel blog!
They love having access to a smart pad in which they can freely use. It's rewarding when learning something new. They now have the luxury to have computer knowledge.
Yes, as I indicate that so many of my students do not have access to computers, so this a very appreciative gift.”
