I have a wonderful, but very small classroom within the Science Building at Hollywood High School. Unfortunately we do not have the funding for supplies and lab equipment, so it is difficult for me to create engaging projects for my students when we do not have the ample materials. My students are very diverse and come from different backgrounds. The majority of them are from low income areas and I had to provide many of them with their class materials this year. I also have English language learners and integrated SPED in all of my classes. I am teaching in a magnet where we engage in linked learning, as well as interdisciplinary learning. The magnet is focused on New Media and Film so I also need updated technology. They are wonderful and creative children that need to be challenged and engaged with the lessons and projects. I would love to do more creative projects, but funding is the issue. Isn't it always?
