Our second grade team uses a program called Rooted In Reading and I absolutely love it! The only downside is that my students do not have a copy of the text they can put their hands on and reread as needed because we only have one copy of the text to use per class. I think it is vital to get books into the hands of each of our kids, so I would like to have at least one copy to use at each table of students to allow for more hands on small group conversations. Once we have enough books, my students can go back into the text and provide concrete examples of text evidence, as well as re-read if they do not understand certain aspects of the text.
