In early childhood classrooms, children and teachers spend a great amount of time on the carpet. We begin our day by meeting at the carpet and going over significant upcoming events for the day. The morning message prepares the children for the day.
Many "magic" moments happen on the carpet.
During work time, a substantial portion of the day, children work, play, and learn by sharing and building together on the carpet. We also have our large groups and story times on the carpet. At the end of the day, the children sing their favorite songs and or do finger plays while waiting for the parents sitting on the rug.
My students will be very pleased if they have new carpets. Our rugs are 14 years old and stained. They need new cozy carpets to give them a space to sit and learn.
