I am a librarian at a low income high school in Ky, and we have over 80% on free and reduced lunches. The elementary school that we partner with also has the majority of the students coming from homes that the parents do not have a college education. These students will be first generation of college students. These students need all we can do to embed in them that a college degree is critical. We need to find a way to move students out of poverty and into the workforce to be contributing members of society.
