  • Learning Social Science Through Music

    Funded Nov 1, 2019

Thank you for all your assistance and with your help I can impact my students in ways I wouldn’t have been able too. Your help means so much to the students and it allows them to see that people are cheering for their success, and it helps them understand the possibility of success.”

  • A Computer for Every Student Historian

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

My 7th grade History students were so excited to have computers added to the classroom. The technology and instructional curriculum provided has assisted the students with learning history from a different perspective. The students are learning how to write papers utilizing Microsoft Word and Google Docs. The technology in the classroom has also impacted student's classroom presentation as they have learned how to complete reports on Power Point and Google Slides.

While the students have learned how to utilize Microsoft Suites and Google Suites, they are most excited when they use the technology to access the following websites Flocabulary and Brain Pop. Flocabulary connects the curriculum through hip-hop which allows the student to remember facts in a fun way. The students use Brain Pop to watch videos and complete quizzes.

I have particular students who have especially warmed to this new technology, and they are excited to go to their public library and complete extra credit assignments on Brain Pop. Students that have technology at home have requested homework from the websites that they have learned in the classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. TYLER

  • Sports Tutorial Program

    Funded Jan 9, 2018

First, let me just say, thank you! Your recent support of $ 1,107.87 means you understand just how important Forest Brook Middle School is to the community. This is just a humble token of my appreciation for your awesome donation to my classroom. Your support has allowed for the student's athletes to begin their daily tutorials by completing assignments on their Goggle Classroom. The impact of the computer technology that you have provide to our classroom is a pivotal moment in each one of my student athletes life.

With implementing the computer technology in the classroom, the student's first had to have a crash course on how to use the computers. The students where so excited to be using new technology and learning how to appropriately shut down a computer was the highlight of their first day. Your support has reached over 80+ students and their computer literacy skills are growing every day because of you!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. TYLER

My project idea is inspired by providing before school/ after school tutorial program for student-athletes by implementing various 21st century technology techniques based on the student’s preferred learning style. Sports Tutorial program is to supplement sound educational practices (i.e. class attendance, note taking, reviewing and preparing for quizzes and exams) that are imperative for the academic success of student-athletes. Tutorial and review sessions are NOT a replacement for class, but rather a supplement to the experience. Tutoring is offered either on a one-on-one basis or in a group setting. I will work with student-athletes to set semester, weekly, and daily goals in the courses they are tutoring, as well as a plan to achieve those goals. With the requested laptops I would be able to expand and engage my students' learning beyond the classroom to include other areas around the world, their home, their lives, and their community. Technology has revolutionized the way we think, work, and play. Technology, integrated into the student-athlete’s tutorial curriculum, will revolutionizes their learning process, and improves students' learning processes and outcomes. I am sure if the student-athletes are given opportunities to learn and have access to technology like other children do that this will help them succeed in school and in Sports.
