Chrome books will support students in our classroom that do not have access to a working computer at home. Many of our students visit their local library to have access to a computer with an internet connection. Also students with learning disabilities need special tools such as laptops to facilitate their learning. There's something about technology and kids with special needs. According to an article from Princeton University, it states, "research indicates that use of technology can enhance a student’s acquisition of skills and content knowledge when the computer is used to deliver well-designed and well-managed instruction." It is research based and proven in our school. Chrome books will allow these students to engage in the curriculum by being able to read books online, play online math games, engage in "brain breaks" that will give them a chance to reengage in the lesson, and also publish their writing pieces. We believe that students work best when they are engaged and motivated. Chrome books will assist our students in having fun while they're learning! This will also cater to the needs of students who have various sensory issues and need to wear headphones to block out certain noises that may be overwhelming to their senses, as well as students who have difficulty focusing for a duration of time during reading, writing, etc. In having these chrome books, students with these disabilities will be able to use their headphones and drown out the noise of the classroom and focus on their work on their chrome books! It is such a wonder and pleasure to see these students get lost in learning when they use technology to aid them. So, please help in making our students successful in our classroom and help us to guide them into successful learners in the 21st century!
