  • Our Engineers Need Shirts

    Funded Dec 27, 2024

The students are utilizing their new custom shirts for their lego robotics competition. When they first saw the materials they were so excited. It felt unreal and they were so thankful for the generosity that everyone provided. They loved showing off their school pride for their robotics magnet this past NYC Qualifier competition in February.

With these new shirts their next steps is to display what core values means to them and how gracious professionalism is a part of teamwork, impact and having fun.”

  • Engineers in Training

    Funded Dec 5, 2024

A huge thank you to everyone who generously donated to our class! Your contributions have provided us with an incredible set of resources that will help my students bring their creativity to life. Thanks to your support, they were able to print vibrant materials for their project boards during the FLL NYC Robotics Championship competition at John Dewey on March 16th.

These boards were essential in showcasing their engineered robot designs and innovative project ideas. The students were thrilled with the abundance of ink and can't wait to continue their research, using it to share their findings with professionals in the field. Additionally, they've been making the most of their new headphones to attend virtual meetings with experts via Zoom.

The ink and headphones are more than just tools; they're helping my students present valuable research and data about their design's impact on ocean pollution.

Thank you again for your support!”

  • LEGO and Inspire Imagination!

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

The technology is helping our students use their cognitive skills to learn by visual means. Not all students are kinesthetic learners and so the aspect of visual aid by means of something as simple as a full color image goes a long way. When conducting projects especially the one my students are working on presently, the use of their new printer is astounding. They have not only had to describe their coding of how their robot is programmed but also incorporating images of their attachments used to complete the task at hand. Being able to input full color resolution images onto their slides allows me to print out their hard work and show off their success onto their classroom bulletin board. Many of my special education students loved the idea of printing their work in color because their projects come to life as opposed to the normal black and white images. Overall my students are so thankful for their new classroom ink jet printer and appreciate the generosity the donors provided.”

The classroom is relatively large, housing about 30 students. The classroom is set up with learner in mind, it is full of teacher made activities and bulletin boards where the learner could demonstrate their knowledge about the subject matter of science by answering questions posted on the boards. The boards are also displayed with a scaffold station to help with differentiation, and empowering students success with a "Scientist of the Month" for each class. The desk arrangement is in groups of four, where the students can openly discuss any topic viewing their classmates and the teacher. The classroom comes equipped with 2 large dry erase boards placed on the corners, with a average size smart board in the center of the room. The students range from emerging, transitioning, and expanding ENL learners to highly advanced honor students.
