Oh no! There's a hungry bird swooping in to catch our bug! How can we move our bug(coding bug) to keep it safe? Where is a safe space? What is the fastest path to get there? How many water pumps does it take to sink a boat? So many questions and problems to solve with so many possible answers. STEM learning is about exploring, asking questions about the world around us and always asking why or what if. The real life skills that children develop when learning STEM help make everyone better problem solvers and learners. Children can explore early engineering skills through building models, trying out new ideas, and designing structures. They can practice these skills by solving meaningful problems, such as how to safely get the Gingerbread Man across the river or how to keep Humpty Dumpty safe while sitting on a wall.
