Maintaining Student Energy and Health
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donation to my students and school. When they saw all of the snacks delivered to the classroom, they were very excited! Having these snacks to look forward to really helps motivate them to want to excel in class. It also maintains their energy levels which again helps keep them motivated.
Having these snacks especially benefits the students that are in my after school programs who have been working hard in school from 8:00 am and some of them stay until 5:30 pm. For the students that cannot afford to bring food or snacks to school to maintain their energy and health this is something they really look forward to. It brings them joy and makes them feel comfortable.
Having the hand sanitizer really helps in keeping the kids germ free as much as possible and with all the colds that have been going around this season, the tissues came in handy!
Thank you again for your donation. You have made many students happy and filled many bellies!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Joseph-Horn
This classroom project was brought to life by Salesforce.org and one other donor.Making Discoveries and Connections Through Reading in Science!
Funded Nov 1, 2017Having these Science World magazines in my classroom are a wonderful addition to my class. There are so many new topics for my students to explore in the science world. Some articles are even able to reinforce topics I have taught in class which gives them real world connections. Those real-life connections are what allows the students to remember the information taught and to understand it more vividly. Some of the articles are also inspiring to the students; they get to see kids their age and just a little older developing inventions and making differences in the world.
I try and make reading in my science classroom fun and interactive. The kids love to do what I like to call Popcorn Reading. I choose the first student to start reading and then that student reads as much or as little aloud as he/she likes (as long as they are not in the middle of a sentence). From there that student randomly calls on someone else to continue. This method continues until the passage is done or I have the students stop to ask questions. This keeps all of the students following along and engaged.
We all look for forward to reading some more issues of our Science World Scholastic Magazine. Thank you so much again! This donation is very much appreciated by all!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Joseph-Horn
