This project will help my students develop brain plasticity and build new connections as they manipulate with sensory materials. I am requesting the following sensory materials for my class because they are imperative to provide the learning experiences my students need to stimulate different parts of their brains through their senses.
1) Having a listening center in my classroom will furnish my students with auditory experiences. It will help their brain open pathways for the development of language.
2) By using different color paint, markers, glue, and wikki-sticks , my students will explore the word of the visual arts, which will help them gain focus, attention, and develop their writing skills; more importantly, they will find their own ways of expressing their thoughts and ideas. Furthermore, my students' self-esteem will be amplified.
3) My students will use paper punchers to strengthen their hands muscles as they create shapes of different forms and colors. In my class, paper punchers will be utilized as a way to produce the counters that will be suitable to reinforce math skills, color identification, shape identification, counting using 1:1 correspondence, sorting, and much more.
4) My students will learn letter recognition by using alphabet stamps and ink pads. Manipulating with these stamps, will make learning fun and productive.
5) Wooden puzzles with sounds will be used to work in small groups to offer opportunities for my students to expand their vocabulary and form concepts as they listen to words and see pictures.
My teaching philosophy is: "All children can learn if they are taught in the right way!" I can do it with your help!
