My students are from a very low socioeconomic area. The majority (at least 50-60%) are ELL. Our class sizes are larger than in most states (we are in Utah). Little time to help students individually is available because of this. Our tax base is low and funds are thinly spread. My students don't get much help at home to finish projects and assignments because their parents aren't home (working) or they don't speak, read, or write English. They need to do most of it in class.
