The donations from this project will help to provide supplies for my students that build strength, promote strong bones & muscles, promote good posture, improve gross motors skills, enhance healthy growth and development, decrease the risk of childhood obesity, promote sharing, and encourages interaction with peers. The items I asked for are a Gross Motor Skills Kit that includes a wide range of materials such as jump ropes, gross motor hoops, different types of balls, rhythm ribbions , and bean bags. These materials would allow my students to play a wide range of games like dodge ball, foot ball, kick ball, soccer, bean bag toss, dance with rhythm wands and more. These materials will engage students in physical fitness and give children choices. Potato Sack Jumping Bags will introduce students to competitive games in which they have to take turns, run, jump, and learn good sportsmanship. Hop 55 Balls will help in assisting children in hopping and jumping. Two-Sided Bean Bag Toss & Alphabet Bean Bags allow children to work on fine and gross motor skills, Competition Plastic Disc allows children to use their upper body. All the materials list above encourage gross motor development. I also asked for a Hand Pump and Needle Set, so we can keep the balls pumped up and ready for our students. The material listed encourage student to run, jump, engage in relay races, and play games with their peers. These are materials we lack. Thank you. The Benefits of Quality Physical activity for children are ... Children who are active will: • have stronger muscles and bones. • have a leaner body. • be less likely to become overweight. • decrease the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. • lower blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels. • have a better outlook on life
