I teach first grade in a school with an extremely mixed population. Many students have attended 1-2 other schools by the time they reach me in first grade. My first graders are naturally curious and science is a perfect opportunity for exploration leading to understanding the world around them. They love getting hands on experiences and actually interacting with materials such as magnets, soil, and the parts of a plant.
