Small group instruction is critical to reach the diverse needs of student learners. I have chosen a variety of materials and leveled readers to help me instruct individuals and small groups, meeting them where they are. Readers Theater is an enticing and fun way for students to learn how to read using appropriate tone and expression. Reading out loud helps build fluency and boost the confidence in readers of all skill levels. What is everyone else doing while the teacher is focused on the few? Games and activities which reinforce the skills being taught or reviewing familiar skills. Special seating will help make this time special for students. Wobble seats will provide a fun and different incentive for students to participate in instruction geared especially for them. I strive to give each of my students the opportunity to become successful, independent readers. These materials will give me new tools to bridge the gap as struggling readers approach their goals and skilled readers soar even higher.
