Connecting History Through Creative Brainstorms and Doodles
Funded Dec 31, 2024Thank you, Gracias, Merci, Donors Choose! What a difference you have made in the lives of the students I have the privilege to teach. Your donation of content relevant text have allowed my students to dig deeper into understanding history from the perspective of those who lived events of the past and see how it relates to current events. For me as a World Geography and Ancient Civilization teacher my goal is to immerse students into a whole new world. One that existed over 10,000 years ago and one that gave America it's Independence. Your text have been a helpful tool in my United States History class too. I enjoy reading the text too!
The whiteboard table has made writing and
connecting history for my students easier because they write out their ideas in small groups, discuss them and see how they connect to their learning. It has also helped in math review small groups. Everything you gave us has been an integral part of helping my students learn. Thank you for being a part of our learning journey.”

Funded Nov 30, 2022Coming to the William Monroe Trotter School as a new teacher was made so much easier because you donated new books and classroom essentials. I truly appreciate it and my students both in 5th & 6th grade found the books to be relatable, interesting and most of all GOOD reads. Thank you for making our classroom library an access to unfettered learning for all of my students.
When I arrived at The Trotter there were not a lot of current book sets or novels that related to the many cultures of students who are in my class. The books that you donated have helped my students see themselves and their culture outlined in a good book. They enjoy reading books with characters that represent Puerto Rico, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Africa, and the United States.
Your donation has truly made a difference in my student's eagerness to read. Thank you again for your generosity to our classroom.”

Funded Jul 28, 2022What a joy it has been for my students to receive the wonderful donation of books, notebooks and pens that they are using daily. They are beginning to see the joy of reading chapter books that they can connect too through real life situations. They are able to jot down notes in their notebooks and it makes it fun because they can use the pens with characters on them. For many of my students reading a chapter book was once difficult because they could not relate to the characters. Now they can. Thank you for helping my students to become better readers and writers. We, my students and I are very appreciative.”

Funded Jul 9, 2019I would like to thank you for the bookshelves and educational items that were donated to my class. My students and I have thoroughly enjoyed using the bookshelves to be organized. The bookshelves are located at the ends of their tables allowing students to have more room to work on their table without having to worry about notebooks or other items in their way. The bookshelves allow them to place tissue and supply containers that hold pencils, scissors and markers on the tops of the bookshelves making them accessible when the students need them.
As a STEM Academy, 4th-grade class the students are constantly using their table space as a works space for their STEM challenges Our classroom is very small and the bookshelves have allowed them to have room on their tables to create amazing STEM projects, collaborate with each other and still remain organized.
My students realize that everything has a place and it has helped them to keep their areas and their classroom clean and neat. As a teacher the joy I have when my students are shown love through others who care about their education is wonderful.
Thank you for helping me guide my students to be caring, courageous, intelligent students who I pray will remember to give unto others as you have given to them.”

Creating A Worry-Free Reading Zone
Funded Oct 18, 2017I would like to thank you for the educational items that were donated to my class. We have thoroughly enjoyed every book, rug and laptop desk that was provided. The impact of these wonderful educational gifts has been awesome. I have watched my students become engrossed in the books watching their faces become surprised, eyes sparkling and even a silent chuckle at something they could relate to. They have truly enjoyed working in their own personal space with an emoji rug and a laptop desk. For them, being able to choose where they read or do an independent assignment makes them feel more responsible for their work and what they learn.
I have mailed the letters my students have written to express their thanks. They are already asking when we can do another project to get more books. Through their letters, you will hear their gratitude and their excitement. Thank you again for showing how much you care for our future leaders.”
