Personalized Science Notebooks
Funded Nov 4, 2022Our new materials have been a huge help in exciting our students to record their data and create diagrams of their STEAM projects. Each and every one of them enjoy the personalization aspect of their Science Notebooks, especially the fun science stickers! It gives them a deeper sense of responsibility and accountability for their work.
We even had a few extra notebooks that we used to record data on our Science Lab animals. We decorated them with pictures of each of our animals and provided prompts for students to use as they record information about the animals as they observe them. For example, students record what day and time they feed them as well as what they fed them and how much. This helps students as we have many different classes and so students will check if they have been fed that day so they don't over feed the animals.
Our students have seen the benefit and importance of recording data and information for themselves and others. I am hoping this habit continues in science and in other aspects of their life as well! Thank you for all of your support!”

Full STEAM Ahead: Building Bridges through Teamwork
Funded Oct 14, 2017I cannot begin to describe to you all how my students reacted when they saw the two large boxes of K'nex building sets. They could not believe that they were going to act like true civil engineers as they used the pieces to construct the bridge that they designed with their partner. The curiosity sprang back into action as they wondered, "What does this part do?," "What can this piece be used for?" I loved hearing their excitement as they shouted "Let's try this!"
The students have been working in partnerships to design a bridge that they think will be the most sturdy and stable. They have been learning the different terms to describe each of the parts that they have been building. As the students begin to learn what each of the parts can be used for, they will begin to build stronger bridges. I am hoping in the near future we will be able to set constraints that will pose more challenges, which will build their problem solving and critical thinking skills.
We are forever grateful for you generosity. Thank you for your support. You have truly enriched the lives of my current students as well as my future students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Henricksen
