  • Calculators + Physics = Future

    Funded Oct 24, 2018

Thank you so much for your kind donation. Many of the students in my class do not have calculator to compute a lot of the physics problems in my class. Many of them would try to use their cell phone as calculators or the basic 4 function (add, subtract, divide, and multiply) but get stuck when it comes to computing trig values (such as solving projectile motion). It is even worse when some are enrolled in a duel credit college physics course and it is expected that everyone brings their own graphing calculator. Anyways, thank you once again for providing the tools my students need to succeed in the classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Nguyen

  • Calculating the Future!

    Funded Oct 26, 2017

Thank you so much for the calculators! Working in a district where many students on reduced lunch or who cannot afford calculators of their own is tough. Many of them lack the resources and tools to perform many of the calculations needed in my physics class. With these calculators, students can practice calculating all the physics equations that we use in labs and class including the kinematic equations of a cart in motion, proving the freefall of objects is 9.81 (or at least close to it), speed of sound in a tube and many more thanks to your generous donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Nguyen

As a Physics teacher my teaching philosophy is to provide an enriching, challenging, and enjoyable learning experience for my students. I push students to their limits with challenging questions and situations, but simultaneously invoke humor through my personality and my nerdy love of Marvel and DC comics in the classroom. Besides teaching the required curriculum, students will also learn how to build character, respect, and confidence through collaborative group work. I heavily stress on improving my classroom experience through research on different curriculums. I firmly believe that there is no single "best" teaching strategy for students to learn. Instead, teaching must be innovative, evolving, and adaptive to students' environment and culture. Hence, my teaching strategy and technique are always changing.
