Every person dreams of what they wish their lives would become. Students who dream big are able to achieve great things. I am asking my students to dream big. While dreaming, I am asking them to create a character and a story to share their dream with the world. This will give students an opportunity to see their dream regularly as they push to finish their dream in real life. With student goals depicted in a visual display, they will be able to begin to work towards their dreams. Students will build a box with a lid and paint it. This will become their Dream Capture Box. They will name their box and begin their adventure. For the next two weeks, they will collect items they find that relate to their dream and place it in the box. Through this activity, they can gather items that remind them of where they want to go. The final stage of the project is the writing part. Students will write about the dream they have and describe each item in a short novel. They will decorate and color their novel to match their box. When they become frustrated or discouraged because they have hit roadblocks to accomplishing their dreams, this project will be available to review and read over and over to encourage them to reach for the stars.
