3D Printing Helper Tech for Learning
Funded Jun 23, 2023Thank you so very much for supporting this project and providing our schools with a 3D printer. Your support has allowed us to start printing some low tech assistive technology devices to help some of our student with disabilities. These include items such as reading bars (see image) that help students keep their place while reading and avoid skipping lines, number aligners (see image) to help keep track of place values when completing numeric operations and joints to support deck dividers to help keep materials neat and tidy. These are just a few items already printed with many more to come!
In addition, thanks to your donation, we started a small group that will be entering this year's PrintLab Make:Able challenge (https://www.makeablechallenge.com). The group will learn the basics of 3D design and printing and then work on designing and fabricating an assistive technology solution for a person with a disability. To get warmed up, we started with a simple token project and designed Kobe's number on a chip. The awe and enthusiasm for this process was inspiring to see!
All this would not have been possible without your generous support! I cannot wait to see what is next.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Dumitrescu
