  • Support Our Students & Snacks!

    Funded Mar 24, 2025

This is so exciting and special for our students. They are really feeling the power and care of their community. They are thrilled they will have something to eat in their classes and internships.

Especially with current budget cuts and students feeling overwhelmed due to the political situation, many have been avoiding school.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bermudez

This classroom project was brought to life by A New York City Parent and one other donor.
  • MakeyMakey Mental Health Magic

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

On behalf of City-As-School, 721 M, and our students, I want to express our deepest gratitude for your generous donation toward the purchase of the Makey Makey equipment for our inclusive game development program. Thanks to your support, our students—both general education and those with intellectual disabilities—now have access to the tools they need to collaborate, innovate, and bring their creative ideas to life.

With your contribution, students are working together to design and build alternative video games that foster engagement, accessibility, and inclusion. This program is not only providing hands-on experience with technology and game development but also creating meaningful opportunities for teamwork, problem-solving, and social connection across diverse learning abilities.

Already, we have seen the excitement and confidence growing in our students as they explore new skills and realize their creative potential. Your generosity has made a tangible impact, empowering these young minds to develop games that reflect their unique perspectives and abilities.

Thank you for believing in the power of inclusive education and for helping us create an environment where all students can thrive.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bermudez

  • Discovering Our History: A Mural With Magda Love & SYP

    Funded Nov 29, 2018

Magda Love and SYPartners have been incredible collaborators and mentors to our students. Our students have had weekly sessions with them to conceptualize, research and design a mural that tells the story and history of our school and its community. It has been a powerful and exciting initiative and we are very proud of the mural! Thank you to you to everyone who donated to make this possible!

In the words of one of the participating students, "To Magda Love and SYPartners, Your guidance in this task has been exceptionally helpful yet freeing. As artists, you have opened our eyes to new peripheral steps in the delicate design process. You have done the impossible, allowing us to have our extreme artistic space while lending your hand to allow us to grow as people as well as thinkers. The SYPartners office has been a portal to step in, where we can focus and create openly, spreading our minds to the vast extents they can reach. While at times we have hit rough spots, your team has bursted with energy in overcoming any obstacles that stood in our way. For this we are forever grateful."”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bermudez

This classroom project was brought to life by New Teacher Fund and 17 other donors.
Over the next three months, Magda Love will work with our students to create a new mural that represents the essence of our school. The students will meet each week for work sessions at SY Partners to aid in their discovery of the school's identity, exploration of design directions, the creation of prototypes, gathering of feedback, and final execution of the mural at our school. Magda has been working on murals at our school over the past three years in collaboration with MAD Academy students to celebrate the energy of the CAS community. Magda Love is an Argentinian-born artist and committed social activist, based in New York, who recently collaborated with the Women’s March and spoke at the United Nations. Her work aims to celebrate the cultivation of community and love with imagery of women and nature. She is an inspiring leader, teacher and artist!
