STEAMing Ahead Into Science
Funded Dec 5, 2022I would like to take this opportunity to say 'thank you' for donating to my 4th grade class.
The Legos, electrical materials, magnets and items used for spilled oil experimentation has enhanced the learning experiences of my students. To hear my students discuss positive and negative charge, insulator and friction as scientists, brought tears to my eyes.
Research as shown, that children learn most effectively through hands-on exploration. Your generosity, gave me the opportunity to provide them with such an experience.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Luna
This classroom project was brought to life by Cognizant Foundation.Chromebooks for Tomorrow's Leaders!
Funded Dec 14, 2017We are so thankful for our tablets. Students were extremely excited the day the boxes arrived with the tablets. They could not believe how generous people are in today's society. There were smiles and tears from everyone, especially me! I an unable to express in words just how much your generosity means us.
Students respectively and collaboratively shared the tablets, turning and talking with their partners as they researched topics of interest on the web. Independent of my input, the students initiated a democratic system whereby students were allocated a number and a time limit to work independently on a tablet. This independent session was for the sole purpose of strengthening their academic skills using our school's on line resources, i.e. IXL and iReady. I was awestruck at the level of maturity exhibited by my fourth graders.
This project was successful in many ways. For starters, it provided my students with the opportunity to take ownership of their learning. They realize that they must not be passive when it comes to education. Rather, as learners, you must aggressively seek knowledge and always ask questions. Secondly, they have learned that in this not so positive climate, there are people who truly want minorities to become educated. Finally, every time we hear 'it takes a village', we will remember our own personal experience of how strangers donated so we could achieve.
Thank you for helping my students enhance their academic skills as well as learn about generous nature of others. You have helped make me a better teacher!"”
With gratitude,
Ms. Luna
