  • iPads to Find a Voice!

    The enjoyment that these iPads have brought to my students is more then I could have ever imagined. I did not realize the magnitude of the impact that they would have on their learning as well as their want to engage with each other. The students are able to learn in ways that they were not able to before.

    Student's that were not able to hold a pencil are now able to trace letters, words, and numbers on their iPads. Student's that were not able to match pictures or words using paper are now able to match items on their iPads. Student's that were not able to talk are now able to speak using their iPads. The iPads are also used for the student's when they have free time to play educational games, have a book read to them, or self-explore on educational websites.

    These iPads were the highlight of our school year and have increased my student's learning level tremendously.”

If my students had access to more technology, it would improve their ability to learn and speak drastically. The iPad offers many apps that assist children with Autism with deficits in communication, social skills, academics and many others! It will assist some of the lower functioning students with communicating their basic wants and needs, while also assisting higher functioning students with academics and social skills. This project will give my students an ability to use a voice that has been hiding within them. I can not imagine the excitement my students will have when they see how much they can communicate through the use of technology.

About my class
