Beat From the Dr.
Funded Jan 7, 2022Our new Dr. Beat metronome is used every day in class during warm ups and music rehearsal. It allows my hands to be free and allows me to walk around the room listening to individual students.
When the Dr. Beat metronome first showed up, they knew exactly what it was and initially were not super excited that our old broken one was replaced. But, knowing the importance of playing with good time, they have since asked to borrow it in sectionals, and throughout the day. Many comments such as "can we use the metronome this time" come from them on a daily occurrence.
We just finished performances at our state solo and ensemble contest and are working to perform in a local parade next week. The metronome will be ticking on helping us prepare for event after event!”

Funded Oct 5, 2018The concert snare drum that we received through this donors choose project has already been used in our winter concert by our percussionists and is used on daily basis in class and at performances.
When the new snare drum was unboxed and brought out into the room the percussion students were very excited. None of them have ever played on a real concert snare drum before. They were all very excited!
The percussion students are all currently working on percussion ensemble pieces for regional solo and ensemble that takes place in February. This snare drum is being used by both percussion ensembles on a daily basis. Both groups are near completion in learning the music and the next step is to perfect it.”

Funded Jan 9, 2018Thank you once again for donating to my project for my classroom. The percussion storage cabinet came just in time for our middle of the year concert in March which saved us a ton of time, space on stage, and made for a much smoother concert. My percussion students have been able to keep the back of the classroom much more organized with the ability to keep all of their instruments in one location. Other students have also been less tempted and less able to pick up random percussion instruments which will save us from having to re-buy them from improper use. I thank you again!”

Padding Out to the Beat
Funded Nov 28, 2017The practice pads that we have received through this project have been used daily by all of the percussionists in my school. My percussion class starts every single day with a warm up on their rudiments on these practice pads. From there students are able to use these practice pads to silently practice while the rest of the class rehearses a piece of music.
My 6th grade band class that also has percussionists have used these practice pads to practice while I work with other sections of the band. It is the best quiet alternative to loud drums in the world! I personally feel that these 6th graders having access to these practice pads will allow for them to develop their technique and form for percussion playing faster than if they were required to just stand in the back of the room quietly.
Since completing this project I have already funded another project which will greatly increase our ability to store these practice pads as well as all the other percussion materials in the room in one safe, locked location. Students will continue to use these practice pads at my school for many years to come and I am very thankful for your support!”
