Social Studies
Funded Nov 28, 2023Thank you so much for supporting my students in their goals of learning about their community. You have allowed my students to explore the world around them with social studies centers. The student get excited when they see social studies on the flow of the day chart because they know that the materials are fun and engaging.
While they are learning, they also get to engage in educational games.
The amazing lessons have allowed my students to connect what they learn to their real life experiences. We have explored all around the world and have looked at our local neighborhood and community helpers.
Thank you so very much for your generous support.”

Funded Aug 25, 2023Thank you so much for supporting my students. They now have access to new books that are diverse and allow them to engage in books for our social studies curriculum.
My students are so excited to be able to see people who look like them in the books in our library. This is so very important for their self esteem and self image. My students see people who come from the same backgrounds as they do and connect to the people and characters. This helps them understand that they are changemakers and have the ability to impact the world positively.”

Engineering with PlayStix
Funded Sep 18, 2023The play sticks have been such a wonderful and welcome addition to not only our steam projects but also an age appropriate and exciting center time activity. They have truly been exploring how to build structures with various bases and leg configurations. It is amazing to see them feel proud when they are able to build a stronger structure but also to see them laugh and smile when it doesn't work out. I love seeing my students succeed and seeing them cheer each other on.
These materials have also helped my students engage with their peers. My students struggle socially and often find it difficult to engage with their peers. The play stix have allowed my students to practice sharing parts and asking for what they need.”

Funded Aug 16, 2023Thank you so much for supporting our Science curriculum. You have sparked an interest in learning that they did not previously have. My students don't have many experiences with with animals and insects and you have allowed my students to explore the lives of these insects right in our classroom.
My students love taking turns with the magnifying glass looking and observing what they see. They have taken to drawing what they see and ask if they can take them home. We will be setting up a system for my students to take care of the ants over the weekend.”

Reading Center Fun
Funded Oct 12, 2017These resources arrived at a very critical point in the recognition skills of my students. Recognition of the letters of the alphabet is vital in their ability to sound and read words and seeing these colorful and beautiful miniatures generated excitement and energy throughout the classroom. You could see the joy in their faces as the boxes were opened, assembled and their burning desire to learn the alphabets.
The class did a project about space during Science and we made a model of space rockets. This lesson was used to incorporate alphabets recognition and sounds. During reading it was easy for the students to use their prior knowledge of rockets to work together to put the rockets in ABC order. In addition, during the Science lesson about space one of my students requested that we make space rockets with the letter M for Mars written on the rocket. The miniatures beginning with the letter M sound were identified and placed in a group. One student suggested that he sent a Man to the Moon- 2 words beginning with the letter M and the man's name was Mark. The students were able to identify the upper and lower case Mn.
The students and staff appreciate your generous donations and your commitment in
helping the students with special needs as they develop and improve their phonemic skills. Class X04 say a million thanks and hope to hear from you soon.”
