Funded Nov 20, 2018I cannot thank you enough for the positive impact you have made in our classroom. My students get excited to be able to come into our classroom each morning. They enjoy the flexibility that our seating options offer. Through this, they have come to better understand themselves as learners. They have grown to advocate for their needs and seek resources that will benefit them as a student.
I had shared about the project launch with my students and we celebrated each small victory. They were overjoyed when I announced that our project had been fully funded. They looked forward to the day they would finally see them in our classroom. After having received the package, I was able to assemble the wobble stools and sat them for display in our classroom. Students were excited to see that they had finally arrived and even more ready to be able to use them. As we learned about the stools and how they helped us as learners, students began to navigate towards using them for a variety of reasons. I would often hear things like "Ms. Plote, I am very hyper today, may I use a wobble stool?" Although their spark has yet to wear off, students choose the stools because they are able to see how they benefit their behavior throughout the day.
I have several students in my classroom who prefer a wobble stool over any other seating option. When thinking about the impact these materials have made in my classroom and for my students, one particular name comes to mind. This student is someone who is intelligent, creative, outspoken and most of all, a wiggle worm! He does not sit well and would enjoy much more to be moving all day if he could. The wobble stools have been his greatest tool for participating as an active learner in our classroom. It was a challenge to encourage him to stay focused, however with these stools, he is able to sit while also being allowed to move as necessary. This allows his mind and body to be occupied with movement, while also focused on the learning. Ask him about the wobble stools and he could go on and on about how they have truly helped him be successful!
My students and I truly appreciate you for your contribution to our classroom! I am excited to see how it will continue to impact my students to come.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Plote
