  • A COVID-19 1st Grade Classroom

    Funded Oct 22, 2020

These news resources have been a gamechanger in our COVID-19 classroom. We received lots of hands-on STEM materials to create STEM bins. First graders use these bins as an educational reward for when they finish their classroom work. We also received additional resources, such as whiteboards, expo markers, classroom tools, etc., so that students can have their own classroom materials in order to keep germs at a minimum.

It was exciting to have the first grade students see the new materials. They have been loving the STEM bins. They can change their STEM bins every week and the excitement on Mondays when they choose their new STEM bins is very high. They have also appreciated their own classroom materials. A lot of our students come from high poverty situations so they are not used to having their own things. They have been taking very good care of their materials.

Thank you for the help and contribution you made to our classroom. We very much appreciate it and it has helped our first grade students at our school have a better learning experience during this strange time.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Peske

  • A Spot to Learn On, Our New Rug!

    Funded Aug 16, 2018

Our new classroom resource of our class rug is amazing! First of all, it is huge! It fits perfectly in the space and it has room to spare. Each square with a dot in the middle of it provides enough space for my students to have their own area, but still be apart of the learning. Second, the different colors of the rug make it so easy for students to remember their spots and to use it as management piece. For example, I can tell all my student who sit on the red dots to do something first, then the green dots, etc. This helps the room to not get clustered with kids all at once as we are moving from one activity to another. Finally, the rug has added so much color and warmth to the classroom. It's such a fun place to read, write, or hang out on.

My students were so excited when they saw the rug. It actually got delivered during the day, so instead of just waiting for the kids to leave to unpack it, I thought it would be fun to do all together. So we paused our lesson and worked together to unroll the carpet, arrange it how we wanted it, and pick our new spots. It was very fun!

Thank you so much for the contribution that you made to the our classroom. It is very much appreciated and it was for a tool that I will use in my classroom for years to come! Thank you!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Peske

  • New Year, New School, New Grade and New Literacy Needs!

    Funded Oct 11, 2017

Thank you so much for helping my classroom by donating to our project. I really appreciate it and I know my Kindergartners do too. The tools we have received from your donations has really positively impacted my students and have helped them learn.

The tools that we have been blessed with through your donations have been so helpful for my students to learn to read. Kindergarten is a very formative grade level and having the resources they need (like books at their levels, a listening center, and chairs they can learn from) is so important. My students are from very low income families, so they are not used to having the tools they need to learn and your donations have made that possible.

My students especially like the wiggle stools. I have the six stools at my small group table and the first time my students used the stools, they loved it. I love how they are able to wiggle around under the table, but it doesn't affect their learning at all. We are able to have a complete small group, all while they are getting their wiggles out. It is great!

    Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Peske

My students need books at levels they can read to build a strong foundation for reading. They need books to practice reading at their independent level since many of my students do not have these resources to practice at home. We need a listening center to engage our minds in a variety of fiction and nonfiction text and to learn how to read fluently. We need clipboards and letters to begin making words so we can becomes authors and share our stories with the world. We need alternative seating to help our minds engage when our bodies need to wiggle and move. These literacy tools will help my students become readers, writers, and scholars and help us cultivate a love of learning.
