  • Hands-On Learning Is So Much Fun! Volume Animals

    Funded Nov 18, 2023

Thank you so much for the supplies. My students were so excited when our materials arrived. They were happy to unpack all the goodies and begin planning for their animals.

The students enjoyed creating volume animals that will be proudly displayed at our Engage Education event. They had such a good time creating the animals from boxes. They then had to cover the boxes and decorate them. They used different supplies for different animals. When finished they got to calculate the volume of the animal!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Witkowski

  • Indoor Play! Rebuilding after a hurricane.

    Funded Oct 21, 2022

My students no longer dread inside recess! It has been so nice to provide new games to the class. On days when the weather is not so nice or we have had PE and already had our outside time, we are able to exercise our brains with our new games.

I was so excited to unpack the boxes and share with my class all the new games we had been gifted to add to our inside recess shelve. We have card games, board games, quiet games and games we have been able to even work into learning!!!!

We are so appreciative of all the wonderful donations. With these games we are able to stay engaged and out of trouble while enduring our inside recess.”

  • Post Hurricane Snacks

    Funded Oct 17, 2022

I can't thank you enough for all the wonderful snacks for my classroom. The parents and students were so happy to know that everyone was going to be able to have a healthy snack every day without it causing any financial drain at such a tough time.

The day the boxes arrived the students were so excited! We opened one box at a time to see what they were. You heard the excitement when you opened something that was someone's favorite. I have had fun picking what box we will open next to add to the snack box.

With you help I have been able to provide snacks for my students every single day since Ian. This allows them to stay more focused on learning and less worried about being hungry. I really can't thank you all enough.”

  • Hurricane Supply Replenishment

    Funded Oct 17, 2022

My students and I were able to replace the supplies that were lost in hurricane Ian. We are finding it very useful to have all new headphones on our computer stations. We use computers daily in our room and it makes a huge impact being able to focus on the lesson you are completing without hearing everyone else's.

My students were super excited when all the boxes were delivered to our classroom. It was so exciting to open the boxes and see what was inside. I was surprised how happy they were to see paper and pencils.

As we continue to progress through our school year my students are continuing to recover from Ian. It is nice to see how resilient they are. We are making the best of each and every day.”

  • Learning Reading Strategies and Acceptance of Others

    Funded Oct 4, 2017

Thank you for your generous donations to my project, "Learning Reading Strategies and Acceptance of Others". My students and I were so happy to receive our class set of "out of my mind". We have been reading and discussing our book everyday! We talk about being kind and accepting others for their limitations.

We are working with partners to complete lots of different activities about Melody and her friends as we go. I feel it is important to make the students accountable for what they are reading and using this novel allows us to incorporate our skills with a book they LOVE.

I am super excited to share this book with my grade partners, this way our entire Fifth Grade will get to experience what life was like for Melody and how Elvira changed it all.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Witkowski

For this project, I am requesting a class set of Out Of My Mind. This is a book about a fifth-grade student who has many physical and learning disabilities and her journey through the school year. One area our students struggle with is reading comprehension strategies. Having a classroom set will give us the opportunity to teach reading strategies while the students have a hands-on copy of recent literature. With this type of literature my students will learn acceptance of others as well as many reading skills. Each student having their own copy of the book will allow them to go back and reread areas for deeper understanding. This will benefit our visual as well as auditory learners.
